This book offers a systematic and critical examination of the development of religious education in Turkey from the establishment of the Republic to the present day. Tracing transformations from the single-party period to the multi-party era, and from military interventions to reform-oriented policy shifts, it analyzes both formal and non-formal religious education through a comprehensive and analytically rigorous framework.
Religious Education Policies in Turkey provides an essential reference for scholars of religious education, education policy, and Turkish studies, as well as for graduate students, educational administrators, and policymakers. By situating contemporary debates within their historical and political contexts, the book offers a robust analytical foundation for understanding state–religion relations in Turkey and for assessing the future trajectories of religious education.
